Short Little Ugly Fella from Lakehurst NAS...

Talk about great timing! I was interested in doing an Oshkosh P-19, which at the time was a new rig, and it turned out that Lakehurst Naval Air Station had just taken delivery of two of them. I was able to get a chance to photograph them and in the course of conversation mentioned that I was building an MB-5. The Chief then took me over to the surplus yard where their last MB-5 was sitting, out of service and about to be disposed of. He told me that had I come by a week later, it would probably be gone - and up to that point, I didn't have a complete set of detail photos!
