Legendary Tanker helps protect the Salem Nuclear Generating Station...

Lower Alloways Creek has one of the best equiped fire departments in the region and with good cause. It is the "first in" department responding to PSE&G's Salem Nuclear Generating Station. This custom tanker was built with the purpose of being able to respond to the plant and has a separate Catapillar V-8 engine that drives a Hale 1000 gallon per minute pump. The tank itself is an unusual tri-axle extended chassis configuration to accomodate the pump and pump engine and holds 8000 gallons of water.
