HANDY PRAYERS

PRAYER FOR A PRODUCTIVE & GOD-CENTERED WORK DAY

I’ve gotten into the habit of using a prayer journal to write prayers or copy great ones I’ve seen or heard, all for use in my daily prayer times. I wrote this prayer a while ago on a day when I just needed God’s help to tackle the needs of the day, and have found it very helpful again and again on days that followed. I share this in the hope that you may find it, or a portion of it, helpful as well. Feel free to use it as needed and share it if you like.

Dear Lord God, King of Kings, Master and Creator of the Universe, and blessed God who has granted me life and then saved my soul:
Please, my heavenly Father and friend, grant today that I would be blessed with fortitude, the mindset and courage to keep on keeping on. Steady and calm, filled with your grace, unrushed but considered and wise in your Holy Spirit, calm and focused. Help me today to lend some order to the chaos around me, to look to you for direction and find it. Grant me wisdom and insight. Be the iron in my spine, the determination that drives me, the focus of my life, and the goal of this day and all my days.

Set me to work! May I work well, spirited, joyful, enthusiastic, and grateful in all you bless us with. May I joyfully be your servant, and an excellent steward, a favored tool in your hands, and rejoice in the privilege of it all even if it gets rough or crazy or scary – be with me anyway and help me to continue on in the power of your Holy Spirit. Please bless the work of my hands, of my mind, of my heart, and of my spirit, and may I glorify you in all that I do today! In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
